Todd New River Festival

Todd, a historic town in Ashe County hosts the annual Todd New River Festival on the second Saturday in October. The 2014 festival will be held on October 11th. The festival features multiple music performances, storytelling, bluegrass jams, puppet shows, athletic competitions and other recreational events for all to enjoy.

When attending the festival you can expect many bluegrass bands and over 30 vendors with a variety of arts and crafts. Also expect plenty of barbecue and great food as the smells drift out of the festival area towards you as you walk to the festival from your car.

Admission is free. Parking and a shuttle ride to the festival are available for $5 at the field just off Railroad Grade Road from the Highway 194 entrance to Todd.

After visiting the festival make a short drive into West Jefferson, about 20 minutes away. Tour the historic town of West Jefferson and browse the many art galleries, antique shops, and quaint family owned businesses. Directions: From Boone‚ travel on Highway 194 North. Continue approximately 12 miles until you cross the Watauga/Ashe County Line. Take a right at the T intersection onto Todd Railroad Grade Road. The store will be on the left.
