I am proud to say that Ashe County will be my lifelong home. Blessed to have grown up here on a large family farm, with parents believing that faith in God and hard work would take you far in life, I planted my roots here to carry on that philosophy. Those life lessons have made me the honest and dependable person I am today. Besides having a deep appreciation for my hometown, I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit that lead me to choose real estate as a career.

On a personal note, I enjoy spending time with my two kids, Stephanie and Chad, Chad's wife Tara, and my three grandchildren, Kelsea, Morgan, and Ryder. Being able to enjoy the mountain air by hiking, boating, and having get-togethers with friends and family, as well as dancing are some of my favorite things to do in my spare time.

I would highly recommend Gwen Hoover to any potential real estate client looking for honesty and integrity in business dealings. When I was trying to sell my home, she was the first in her office to show it and the first (and only) to give me any feedback on customer comments and concerns about the home.

Later, when I was in the market to buy another home, Gwen again represented me. It turned out to be a stressful situation because of another agent, but Gwen continually went to bat for me. Sherry is an Ashe County native and the daughter of the late Donald M. Goodman and Christine Goodman of West Jefferson. She has a daughter, Christen Rinehart, who is a senior at Western Carolina University and currently applying to graduate school to obtain her Masters’ Degree. Sherry serves on the board of the Ashe Suicide/Depression Awareness and Prevention Taskforce and works actively in the community to raise awareness and reduce the stigma attached to depression and suicide. This work became a driving force in her life after the suicide death of her son Brandon in 2008.

Sherry is dually licensed as a North Carolina broker, Certified Residential Appraiser and plans to open Ashe Rental Agency. She graduated with honors from UNC-Greensboro in 1984 and completed post graduate work in the Legal Assistants Program at Meredith College. Sherry has a varied background having worked as a legal assistant in Durham for many years and then for an attorney in Boone. Sherry also worked with the Ashe Partnership for Children and served as Advertising Director for the Jefferson Post, where she learned a great deal about marketing and worked with the early revitalization efforts for downtown West Jefferson. Real estate is the continuous thread running throughout her career, with a variety of interesting jobs and experiences which have given Sherry unique abilities to assist buyers and sellers in all aspects of the real estate industry. In 2007, Sherry received a tremendous honor being nominated and voted by her peers as Realtor of the Year by the Ashe County Board of Realtors.
