Biography

I am proud to say that Ashe County will be my lifelong home. Blessed to have grown up here on a large family farm with parents believing that faith in God and hard work would take you far in life. I planted my roots here to carry on that philosophy. Those life lessons have made me the honest and dependable person I am today. Besides having a deep appreciation for my hometown, I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit that lead me to choose real estate as a career.

My goal is to provide you with an agent that has integrity and is knowledgeable. A real estate investment is the biggest decision you will ever make. You can make that decision with more confidence when you trust the person you are working with. My extensive knowledge of the area and quality customer service can definitely be counted on in obtaining the property of your dreams. It is my desire that after working with me that you consider me a friend more than just your realtor.

It is the relationships that I have developed through my life here and my real estate career that makes me love getting up and going to work each day. I enjoy what I do best, bringing buyers and sellers together so they can experience the good life these beautiful mountains have to offer.

My years of experience speaks for itself. You don’t work 20+ years at a job you don’t enjoy and are not successful at. My local knowledge and my involvement in the community helps me have the tools I need to be the Realtor you need to find just the right home or investment property you are looking for.  I have served on the local Chamber Board, the High Country Association of Realtors Board and had experience in helping revitalize downtown West Jefferson.

On a personal note, I enjoy spending time with my two kids, Stephanie and Chad, Chad’s wife Tara, and my four grandchildren, Kelsea, Morgan, Ryder and Saylor. Being able to enjoy the mountain air by hiking, boating, and having get-togethers with friends and family, as well as dancing are some of my favorite things to do in my spare time.

Testimonials

My wife and I have known Ellen since 2003 when she sold us our mountain retreat. Since then we have called on her for selling a condo and for purchasing land. In all of our transactions, Ellen has always professionally represented our interests and has given us critical advice when needed. She is knowledgeable about the real-estate in the mountain area, caring about client concerns, courteous, extremely professional and eager to assist in anyway possible. We have enjoyed doing business with her and have recommended her to other family members and our friends who have also enjoyed her representation. We would consider her a personal friend and will look forward to doing business with her again. Andy O’Sullivan & Bonnie O’Sullivan

Ellen was professional throughout all aspects of the sale. She handled every detail with competence and punctuality. She found the answers to all of our questions, returned calls promptly, and kept us informed on every issue. She worked toward the highest and best interests of all parties involved. We feel blessed to have had Ellen represent both the sellers and the buyers in a very successful transaction! Bill Sale & Ronda Sale

Ellen Phipps has been an answer to prayer and a true blessing to me and my family as we have searched for a home in Ashe County. When I met Ellen I was immediately impressed with her enthusiasm to help us find a house in spite of our unique situation, trying to fit 3 generations into one home. Ellen persevered and in fact, our first meeting to look at homes was literally over the river and through several inches of snow! As our search continued from winter, through spring, summer and into fall, Ellen was always encouraging, patient and ready to go look at houses, even at a moments notice. Most importantly, Ellen was always honest in advising me about the properties we saw. Thankfully, a couple who knew Ellen asked for her advice about selling their home and she realized it would work for us. I can truthfully say that Ellen has not only been my Realtor, she has become a friend. Ellen is a true representative of what makes Ashe County a wonderful place to live. It is not only the natural beauty of the land, but the very special people, like her that live her that makes Ashe County, home sweet home. Clanton Williams & Susan Williams
