Ashe County Arts Council

The Ashe County Arts Council’s purpose is to encourage and broaden the appreciation of the visual arts in Ashe County through ongoing exhibits as well as support and nurture emerging and established artists in our local area. Organized in 1977, the Arts Council is comprised of a Board of Directors holding twenty seats, some of which are held by a husband and wife team.

The Ashe County Arts Council offers opportunities for artists to exhibit their work in a variety of exhibition sites that include The Gallery of the Ashe Arts Center, Ashe Memorial Hospital Cafeteria Gallery and Mountain Hearts.

Artists of Ashe County and surrounding areas display original arts and crafts in the Gallery Shop in the Ashe Arts Center, home of the Ashe County Arts Council. From pottery to jewelry to ornaments our shop is filled with genuine handmade masterpieces.

Under the leadership of Jane Lonon, the Executive Director of Ashe County Arts Council, the Arts Council has enriched the cultural life of the region and has given the opportunity for natives as well as the many tourist who visit the area to become a part of the art community.
